Pepijn Zoet

PZdynamics is a company set up by Dr. P.G. Zoet, founded in 2012. Originally from the Netherlands he graduated from Nautical College Amsterdam as a Maritime Officer in 1998 and obtained his MSc. from Delft University in 2001 in Marine Mechanical Engineering. He spent 5 years working at the R&D department of Damen Shipyards, 3 years at the R&D department of IHC Dredgers and 5 years as consultant/researcher/lecturer at the University of Strathclyde (Scotland) before starting his own consultancy business.

For both shipyards he was responsible for ship performance, driveline and structural dynamic behaviour, noise and vibrations. He played a key role in many ship trials, finding solutions for dynamic problems occurring in the field and developing  simulation models for predicting noise, vibrations and dynamic stresses in drive lines and structures (torsional and bending vibrations and alignment model development and finite elements). These models have proved essential for designing ship structures and machinery which were capable of operating in dynamically very hostile environments helping to give the shipyards their edge in the highly competitive market they operate in.

From 2009, Pepijn Zoet has been working at Strathclyde University in Glasgow (Scotland) as a researcher and consultant to the marine industry and received his PhD degree for his thesis 'Component Mode Synthesis for Ship Structures, an alternative approach'. As a researcher he has played a key role in the EU Fp7 project ‘SILENV’ and 'AQUO', developing and assessing vibrations and noise mitigating design concepts for the European Union.

He also developed and delivered courses for 4th and 5th years MSc. Students (advanced marine engineering and drive line design) which have been highly rated according to independent surveys. In 2014, he also received a nomination for the excellent teaching award.

He is currently director and chief consultant at PZdynamics Ltd and visiting Lecturer at the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering department of the University of Strathclyde delivering PZdynamics' developed Master of Science courses in drive line engineering, machinery, propeller and structural (dynamic) design.

Tineke Bosma

Tineke Bosma (MPhil. BSc. BMO.) is our Human Factors specialist and project office for the bigger (research) projects we run (APM certified). She started her career as a seagoing officer after she complete her nautical college education in Vlissingen (the Netherlands) in 2000. Having spent a number of years at sea she continued her maritime career at various shore-based jobs before she started working in academia at the University of Strathclyde. There she specialised in human factors and ship design and accident analysis and played a key role in various major research projects looking at accident analysis, training and human factors. Her career continued working for SeaTec/Vships managing the development of courses related to human factors, human resilience, mental health, safety and cross culture interaction. She has also developed coaching programms for one on one coaching or group coaching for (maritime) companies looking to improve company culture, improving joy in work for employees, company safety and productivity.
